With an eye toward the smaller tow vehicle segment, Grand Design RV has introduced the Imagine AIM — Adventure In Motion — as a smaller, lighter, single-axle version of its popular Imagine line of laminated travel trailers.

With four new floorplans — two bunkhouse models and two couple’s coaches — and dry weights ranging from about 3,500 to 3,750 pounds, company officials said AIM “welcomes more consumers to the road.”

The AIM 15RB is a perfect example: the rear-bath, non-slide, Murphy bed unit checks in at 19 feet, 11 inches and 3,594 pounds (UVW), yet offers a 1,201-pound cargo-carrying capacity thanks to an upgraded axle.

Product Manager Eric Landis said every decision in the development of the AIM line was based on weight. “Sometimes it worked out in our favor, sometimes we spent more money in order to have that weight savings,” Landis said.

If the AIM looks familiar, it’s because it’s essentially a miniature version of the Imagine line in just about every way. Like its big brother, AIM’s features include modern interiors, a spacious 8-foot-wide platform, a four-seasons arctic package with an enclosed and heated underbelly, Azdel composite walls, gel-coated fiberglass exteriors and an outside cooking griddle. Other features include queen beds, three-piece bathrooms and kitchens that offer residential countertops and cabinets, microwave, two-burner cook top, double-door refrigerator and stainless-steel sink.

The optional AIM Package is also worth noting as it includes a second roof-mounted 200-watt solar panel, 2,000-watt inverter, Untamed Terrain 235/75R15 tires, Tire Linc tire pressure monitoring system, factory installed backup camera with monitor and Maxxaire power vent with rain sensor.
