In only its second full year of existence, Elkhart, Ind.-based Encore RV continues to add to a growing lineup with the ROG 16RB, an adventure trailer that offers a unique floorplan and feature set uncommon to smaller lightweight trailers — including a kitchen and kitchenette.
“The rear slideout kitchen is just like our 12RK or 12BH,” explained Rich Schnippel, CEO and founder of Encore RV. “You’ve got a 12-volt refrigerator, a two-burner Dometic cooktop with cast-iron grate and a Dometic flip-up sink and faucet.”
Also unique is a rear entry door where campers can load kayaks into the back or lower the screens to have open air camping, Schnippel said, adding that this feature “is what I really like about this thing. It just brings you a little bit closer to the outdoors.”
Inside, the $34,148 (MSRP) 16RB employs a true queen bunk and dinette along with a 4.6-cubic-foot, 12-volt refrigerator, microwave and an ample amount of storage inside the custom-designed, powder-coated aluminum cabinetry. A large closet and a large pass-through storage area are both equipped with motion-sensor lighting. The unit has 54 gallons of freshwater capacity and a 20,000-BTU LP-gas furnace.
As with all Encore RV products, the 19-foot, 4-inch ROG 16RB features an all-aluminum frame. The frame chassis, walls and roof utilize a proprietary “Tri-Bond Construction” where components are assembled with an industrial adhesive, then mechanically fastened and finally welded. No wood is used during construction and aluminum cabinets are CNC laser-cut, formed and powder-coated. Large all-terrain tires are standard equipment along with torsion axle suspension and a proprietary roof-rack system that can transport kayaks, bicycles, canoes, stand-up paddle boards or expand sleeping accommodations with a roof top tent.
